2nd Workshop on “Patent Searching with Classifications”

AIDB, in collaboration with the University of Bologna, has organized a second workshop on the topic of “Patent searching with classification , held by Dr. Stephen Adams , for November 9 and 10, 2010, in the computer room of the Faculty of Economics of Bologna, in continuity with the event scheduled last year.

The workshop is divided into two days: the first is for “academics” (reserved for University of Bologna staff and, if space permits, AIDB members), and the second is for “professional searchers” (reserved for AIDB members). Registrations for both days will not be accepted.

Short Biography of Dr. Stephen Adams

Stephen Adams earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, UK, followed by an M.Sc. in Information Science from City University, London, UK.
For several years, he worked as a technical information researcher in the field of food science at the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food.
After serving as editor of “International Packaging Abstracts” at Pira International, he joined ICI Agrochemicals (later Zeneca Agrochemicals) as their principal patent researcher in 1988.
He founded Magister Limited in 1997.
Stephen is a member of the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP).
Between 2002 and 2006, Stephen served as the first non-U.S. “Director at Large” for the Patent Information Users Group (PIUG Inc).
In May 2008, he received a Special Recognition Award from the PIUG. The citation noted that this was in recognition of:

  • Stephen’s Tireless Service to PIUG,
  • Ten Years of Excellent Patent Search Workshops,
  • Member of the PIUG Board of Directors from 2002 to 2006,
  • Having Been Voted “Favorite Speaker” Countless Times

He is also on the editorial board of *World Patent Information*, the international journal for industrial property documentation, information, classification, and statistics.

The aim of World Patent Information is to provide a global forum for the exchange of information among professionals working in the field of industrial property information and documentation, and to promote the widest possible use of the related literature.
