WIPO IP Information Roundtable
The next meeting will be held on November 14 and 15, 2022 WIPO IP Information Round Table, the roundtable on WIPO’s patent information services, will be held on November 14 and 15, 2022.
Read MoreWIPO —the World Intellectual Property Organization—is a United Nations agency founded in 1967 that deals with intellectual property (IP). It currently has 193 member states, and its mission is to guide the development of a balanced and effective international IP system that fosters innovation and creativity for the benefit of all.
Among other things, WIPO administers the PCT system, for which it has created a database called PATENTSCOPE, which over the years has been supplemented with data from a vast international collection of patents.
Various informational materials on PATENTSCOPE are available on the WIPO website; webinars are also held regularly to help users learn how to use the platform, and a forum is available to gather user feedback.
Following the less-than-positive experience of the “PATENTSCOPE Users Forums” held in Geneva in 2013 and 2014, which had not involved the CEPIUG user groups, in 2016 the project was revived and expanded with the first“IP Round Table,” during which WIPO officials responsible for the various information services gave presentations on the current status of those services and future developments. The participants, including several AIDB members, in turn offered comments, critiques, and suggestions regarding the PATENTSCOPE databases, GLOBAL BRAND and GLOBAL DESIGN DATABASE, as well as International Classifications, the PCT system, WIPO Standards, statistical data and international regulatory text resources, and the training activities of the WIPO Academy.
This event has now become an important forum for dialogue between both parties, fostering mutual understanding and helping to improve WIPO’s services.
This section contains all documents related to the WIPO IP Round Table meetings and makes them available to AIDB members.
