AIDB has organized a webinar for March 28, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. on the new analytical capabilities offered by the European Patent Office’s Espacenet database.
The event is accreditedby the Order of Industrial Property Consultants; participants will receive one continuing education credit in the field of patents upon submission of the certificate.
The new Espacenet, based on ElasticSearch technology, was developed with new features designed to make patent searches more accessible to non-experts in the field, with the aim of increasing public interest in “patent information” and patents in general.
The new features allow users to perform various exploratory and temporal analyses of the evolution of innovation. At the same time, however, they unexpectedly highlight some issues in the databases regarding coverage, classification, translation, “Kind Code” recognition, etc.
This presentation is not intended to be a training session on the new Espacenet, but rather a collection of “case studies” that may be useful to those conducting patent searches—and not only on Espacenet.
