Searching the PubMed Database

Searching the PubMed Database

Webinar organized by AIDB and presented by Luca Falciola of Scibilis SRL.

PubMed is one of the leading databases of biomedical and biotechnology literature that collects and indexes publications, providing a range of information on their content and bibliographic data. The seminar will present some search functions and other lesser-known features of PubMed that should be taken into account when using this database: the meaning of dates, the MeSH indexing system, methods for extracting information (particularly with regard to patent literature), the interface with other databases (such as PubChem, which contains patent, medical, and scientific information on pharmaceutical products and chemical molecules in general).

The speaker – Luca Falciola, Scibilis srl

After gaining experience in various biotech companies as an IP manager in Switzerland, France, and Belgium, he is currently the head of the consulting firm Scibilis (Brussels, Belgium), which operates in the fields of intellectual property, research and analysis of technical and legal information, contract drafting, and higher education. He has taught courses and seminars on biomedical and patent information research at Italian universities and has authored articles and presentations at international conferences on these topics.
