Workshop: “Patent Searching Using Classification”

AIDB, in collaboration with the University of Bologna, organized a workshop on the topic “PatentSearching with Classification, held on November 13 and 14, 2008, in the computer lab of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Bologna, and led by Dr. Stephen Adams.

The workshop is divided into two days: the first is dedicated to “professional searchers” (reserved for AIDB members) and the second to “academia and industry” (reserved for University of Bologna staff and, if spaces remain, for AIDB members). Registrations for both days will not be accepted.

Short Biography of Dr. Stephen Adams

Stephen Adams is the Managing Director of Magister Ltd., a consulting firm specializing in patent information that was founded in 1997. After studying chemistry at the University of Bristol, he earned an M.Sc. in Information Science from City University, London, in 1982 and subsequently worked in various government, private research, and industrial information departments, specializing in patent information since 1988. He is a Chartered Member of both the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).
His professional commitments include the UK Patent and Trade Mark Group (PATMG), where he has served at various times as Secretary, Chair, and Newsletter Editor; he is a former Director-at-Large of PIUG Inc., the International Society for Patent Information; and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Elsevier’s journal *World Patent Information*.
