Patents as a source of information are at the heart of the Bernardo Nobile Undergraduate or Doctoral Thesis Award, named after the founder and director of the PatLib Center at AREA Science Park.
The competition is organized by AREA Science Park (in collaboration with AIDB), which is committed to promoting business innovation, including through the dissemination of knowledge and the use of patents as a tool.
Graduates from the past two years and those who will graduate by the application deadline are eligible to apply. The winners will receive prizes in the amount of:
- 3,000 euros for a master’s thesis, specialized thesis, or thesis under the old system
- 3,000 euros for a doctoral dissertation.

AREA Science Park is offering 15 students the opportunity to conduct targeted, free patent and
literature searches to assist them in preparing their theses throughout 2010.
As in previous years, the initiative is sponsored by AIDB, which will offer the award winners a free annual membership in its association.
