“Information Sources in Biotechnology” Seminar
In collaboration with AIDB, a conference on the topic“Information Sources in Biotechnology” will be held on February 23at the University of Bologna.
The seminar aims to present databases and information search tools (patent and non-patent) developed during the European SLING project (http://www.sling-diffusion.eu/home) for the biotechnology sector, which involved prestigious partners such as the European Molecular Biology Laboratory – European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI), the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB), and the European Patent Office (EPO). It also aims to provide an overview of information retrieval in the sector, particularly with regard to:
- Microorganisms
- Protein
- Enzymes
- Sequencing of bioactive compounds or a new sequence for bioactive compounds
Among the notable presentations, we would like to highlight the one by member Luca Falciola on behalf of AIDB at 2:00 p.m., titled “Linking Biological Sequences to Biological Activities within Patent Literature—Alternative Approaches for Conducting an Effective Search.”
In the afternoon, there will be workshops featuring practical research examples; participants are invited to submit topics of interest when registering via the online form at http://www.sling-diffusion.eu/participants/new?conference_id=19.
Participation is free; the event will be conducted in English.
