AIDB Participates in the Senate’s 9th Committee Hearing on Bill No. 411

On Tuesday, February 7, the Senate’s 9th Committee (Industry, Commerce, Tourism, Agriculture, and Agri-Food Production) held the first day of informal hearings via videoconferenceto review Bill No. 411, “Amendments to the Industrial Property Code” (CPI) submitted by various organizations, which also participated in the discussion on the Strategic Action Plan for Industrial Property for the 2021–2023 period (see the comment filed by AIDB, available on the UIBM website at this page).

AIDB President Guido Moradei presented the Association’s comments, focusing not so much on the content of the bill (which includes—among other things —significant changes to the ownership of inventions in universities and the research sector), but rather on what is missing: namely, provisions for the revision or correction of the publication of industrial property rights, see Section III, Article 185 et seq. of the current text of the Italian Industrial Property Code (CPI), with particular reference to the failure to publish the Patent Bulletin and the application of international standards regarding the publication of industrial property rights.

We hope that the comments submitted will be given due consideration, and we now await the final text and, subsequently, the amendment to the CPI implementing regulation.

The video recording of the day’s hearings is available on the 9th Commission’s website at this link (remarks by the AIDB president starting at 1:26:15)
